The Harris family of White Oak Pastures has raised cattle on the same Early County, GA farm for five generations. Stewardship of the land and respect for our livestock are among the most important lessons that are passed from parent to child in our family.

Ossid MH

Ossid MH is the primary packaging business unit of Pro Mach Inc. Ossid is an engineering company that fabricates a variety of primary packaging machines for the beef, pork and, poultry industries. Pro Mach Inc. purchased a longstanding North American engineering company, Mahaffy Harder (MH). MH has been fabricating horizontal thermoform, fill and seal machines for over 40 years. Kalman Floor Company

Kalman Floor Company, since 1916 has been a national contractor specializing in the installations of trouble-free industrial concrete floor systems. Kalman’s expertise in materials science and floor installation can provide you with many benefits.

The Kalman Seamless Concrete floor system can eliminate approximately 80% of the joints normally required in conventional concrete floors. This results in a flatter floor due to less slab shrinkage and curling which results in improved facility function and productivity. Armoring with steel bars the few remaining floor joints exposed to traffic eliminates joint breakdown and minimizes floor and forklift repair expenses.

Kalman Absorption Process Concrete floor topping is a ¾” thick, deferred dewatered concrete topping placed over a previously hardened base slab. AP Topping is a heavy-duty finish for use in high abrasion environments like forklift truck docks. For intermediate-duty applications, our Monorock monolithic, stone-densified finish is an excellent choice. Both of these finishes, often combined within the same facility, are smooth, non-dusting and area easily cleaned. They do not require sealers or hardeners and provide long-lasting value for the owner.

Kopco Graphics is very proud of its team of employees and recognized Mike Hadsell in their monthly newsletter. Mike Hadsell is Sales Manager for the Florida plant. Mike is a very amiable and outgoing person with tremendous talent and a great Sales Manager for Kopco Graphics. Mike is also a Commercial Pilot and founder of Peace River K9 Search and Rescue.

University of Georgia’s Dr. Karina Martino had a little girl Valentines Day. Emma Lucia Martino and her mother are doing well.

R.L. Zeigler announced the promotion of George Baker to President of R.L. Zeigler Co. George serves on the SEMA Board of Directors and is a past President of SEMA.

Dr. Ron Beckman passed away Wednesday, October 29th from cancer. Dr. Beckman worked with the Chilton Consulting Group and was a respected member of SEMA. Please keep Ron’s family in your prayers. Services will be held Friday November 7th at 11:00 am at the North Cliff Baptist Church in Brooksville, FL. In lieu of flowers, Dr. Beckman’s wishes were for donations to be made to the Northcliffe Baptist Youth Ministries in his memory. White Oak Pastures, Georgia’s leading grass-fed beef producer, has hired Brian Sapp as the manager of their new facility. Brian has just received his master’s degree in Meat Science from the University of Florida.

Stripling’s General Store was chosen as one of the two finalists for the “2008 Family Business of the Year Award”, in the small (fewer than 50 employees) category. The award is chosen from hundreds of nominated companies across the state of Georgia. Winning businesses are chosen on the basis of their proven business success, positive family/business linkage, multi-generational family business involvement, contributions to industry and community, and innovative business practices and strategy. The Cox Family Enterprise Center at Kennesaw State University initiated the Georgia Family Business of the Year Awards Program in 1991.
